The largest crowd the venue has held was a 2023 Ed Sheeran concert; the football high is 69,274 for the 2019 MLS Cup, when the Sounders beat Toronto FC.
The Link light rail runs from the airport straight to the Stadium and International District stations beside the ground, backed by Sounder commuter trains, a downtown streetcar, buses, and ride-hailing.
Traveller's tip: take the Link light rail rather than drive - SoDo parking is scarce and the rail station sits a short walk from the gates.
Seattle has a temperate, dry-summer climate (Köppen Csb). Its famous rain falls mostly in the cooler months; June is comfortably mild, with long daylight, light winds and far less drizzle than the city's reputation suggests.
Seattle's SoDo bowl trades altitude for acoustics: an open-pitched, mostly-roofed cauldron raised on the bones of the demolished Kingdome, where the home crowd has twice set the world record for sheer noise. For the World Cup the artificial carpet gives way to living grass, and four group ties will test whether visiting sides can hear themselves think.
