The fine print — minus the cookies. _

The Octopus's Soccer Almanac is a static history archive. It runs no ad networks, no third-party analytics, and sets no cookies. Here is the small amount of data the site does handle, why it exists, and how to have yours removed.
Only what you type into the guestbook when you choose to sign it: a display name (or "Anonymous" if you leave it blank), an optional location, your short message, and which language edition you signed from.
Stored alongside each entry is a one-way hash of your IP address — never the address itself. The hash exists purely to rate-limit spam, and it cannot be turned back into your IP.
Nothing else is recorded. The visitor counter is a cosmetic retro prop and holds no personal data.
The guestbook is the one corner of the archive where visitors talk back, so your message is stored to be shown to other readers. The IP hash is there only to stop a single source from flooding the book — a spam speed-bump, nothing more.
The site sets no cookies and embeds no analytics or advertising trackers. A couple of harmless preferences — your chosen language and whether you have already seen the boot screen — live in your own browser's local storage and never leave your device.
Anything you submit is scrubbed of obvious personal data before it is stored: e-mail addresses and long runs of digits (phone, card, or document numbers) are automatically replaced with "[redacted]".
Guestbook entries are kept so the book reads as a proper guest book — a standing record of who passed through. You can ask for yours to be removed at any time.
This is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with any governing body, league, or club, and it deals only in football history — never betting, odds, tips, or predictions.
Want your guestbook entry gone? E-mail the octopus with the name you signed under and roughly when, and it will be deleted. Because the site keeps only a one-way hash of your IP, that name is the only thing it can match you on — it cannot look you up by IP address.
